Board Certification Requirements

CVAHP Eligibility Quiz

Applicants must meet the following requirement experience-related required to be eligible for the certification: 

  • Educational Requirement: 2 years formal post-secondary education or higher AND 
  • Experience Recommendation: 3 years cumulative experience in a Value Analysis role*. Candidates must still demonstrate value analysis experience aligned with the CVAHP examination content outline in all four content domains.

Please note that new Experience recommendation. Candidates are responsible for evaluating their readiness to sit for the certification examination. 

*Cumulative experience is defined as the total length of time employed with responsibility for value analysis activities. The experience does not have to be consecutive or with a single employer. Value Analysis experience may come from work at at a healthcare facility, industry partner, or other work directly related to healthcare value analysis. Experience will be verified by:

  • Submitting a copy of their job description that specifies responsibility for the job functions of a value analysis professional and confirmation from their human resources department of their tenure in this role (may be documentation from more than one organization in the event they changed employers)

Please submit your required eligibility documents BEFORE submitting your certification application. Supporting documents should be submitted to the AHVAP Certification Center via the online ELIGIBILITY SUBMISSION TOOL. Failure to submit your eligibility documents will result in application review delays and denial of your application

Applicants Pursuing First Time CVAHP Certification Checklist:

(FOLLOW STEPS BELOW IN ORDER):

1) Step One: Complete Online Eligibility Tool

2) Step Two: Complete Online Eligibility Documents Submission Tool. AHVAP Certification Center staff will contact you regarding your submission within 5 business days. 

3) Step Three: Upon approval for Certification Testing, you will receive an automated email from the AHVAP Certification Center with important instructions to complete your online application for certification on the SMT/Prometric website. If you do not receive an email from the AHVAP Certification Center, please check your spam and contact [email protected]

4) Step Four: AHVAP Certification Center Staff will review all applications within 5 business days. You will be contacted via email regarding your application decision. Please note that information regarding application status cannot be provided over the phone due to privacy concerns.   • AHVAP Member: $300 
  • Non-Member: $450

Exam Policies:

Please note that you are limited to two (2) exam attempts within a two-year period. Retesting fees apply for subsequent attempts.
