Commitment to Professional Credentialing Excellence

The AHVAP Certification Center is dedicated to ensuring that all certification and credentialing programs uphold the highest standards of professional integrity, fairness, and validity.

Our processes are guided by recognized industry best practices and standards established by leading credentialing authorities, including:

  • The Institute for Credentialing Excellence (ICE) and its National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) standards for professional certification programs.

  • The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) ISO/IEC 17024:2012 standards, which outline global benchmarks for personnel certification programs.

  • Foundational principles of validity, reliability, impartiality, transparency, and public protection that ensure every AHVAP credential maintains its professional and ethical credibility.

Guiding Principles of AHVAP Certification

The AHVAP Certification Center operates under a governance and operational framework that ensures every credential reflects the highest level of professional rigor and accountability.

1. Independence and Impartiality

All certification decisions are made independently of any commercial, academic, or membership influence.
The Certification Center maintains separate governance and decision-making authority from AHVAP’s membership and education functions to protect the impartiality of the credentialing process.

2. Fairness and Accessibility

The certification process is accessible to all qualified candidates without discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability, or other protected status. Eligibility requirements, examination content, and performance expectations are clearly defined and consistently applied.

3. Validity and Reliability

Every AHVAP examination is developed and maintained through a comprehensive Job Task Analysis (JTA) process that defines the knowledge, skills, and competencies essential for competent practice in healthcare value analysis.
All exam items undergo psychometric review, subject matter validation, and continuous performance monitoring to ensure fairness, accuracy, and defensibility.

4. Security and Confidentiality

AHVAP employs secure testing, scoring, and data management procedures to protect the confidentiality and integrity of all candidate and certificant information. All policies align with ISO and NCCA requirements for exam security and candidate privacy.

5. Continuing Competence

Certification is not a one-time achievement but a demonstration of ongoing professional competency.
All certificants must maintain their credential through approved continuing professional development activities, reinforcing AHVAP’s commitment to lifelong learning and excellence.

6. Transparency and Accountability

All policies, eligibility criteria, and certification procedures are published and openly available to candidates and certificants. The AHVAP Certification Center regularly reviews policies to ensure they align with current credentialing standards and healthcare industry expectations.

Alignment with Global Credentialing Standards

The AHVAP Certification Center’s practices are informed by internationally recognized frameworks, ensuring that AHVAP certifications meet or exceed the expectations of the professional community. These include:

  • ISO/IEC 17024:2012 – Conformity Assessment: General Requirements for Bodies Operating Certification of Persons

  • NCCA Standards for the Accreditation of Certification Programs

  • Best Practices from the Institute for Credentialing Excellence (ICE)

  • Ethical Guidelines for Credentialing Professionals

By adhering to these standards, AHVAP ensures that its certifications are credible, defensible, and respected by healthcare organizations, regulatory bodies, and credentialing authorities worldwide.
