The Association of Healthcare Value Analysis Professionals (AHVAP) is pleased to announce a new strategic educational partnership with SMI, the nonprofit, member-driven community that unites executive leaders from healthcare provider organizations and industry to advance supply chain performance. Together, our two organizations will present a jointly promoted webinar series that brings value analysis and supply chain leadership into one conversation about what value truly means in healthcare.

This partnership reflects a belief both organizations share: as health systems advance toward value-based care, cost, quality, and clinical outcomes can no longer be evaluated in separate silos. AHVAP contributes the clinical expertise and disciplined methodology of the value analysis specialty, while SMI brings a trusted forum of senior supply chain executives, suppliers, and industry partners working to transform healthcare delivery. By combining these perspectives, the series is designed to help provider and industry teams make product and category decisions grounded in evidence, outcomes, and total value.

The series opens with From Data to Decisions: Integrating Clinical Outcomes into Supply Chain and Value Analysis, an in-depth look at how organizations are building clinically integrated supply chains by connecting utilization and spend data with outcome measures such as infection rates, length of stay, readmissions, and patient safety indicators. Attendees will learn where to find credible outcomes data, how to weigh clinical evidence alongside financial analysis, and how to structure value analysis workflows so clinicians and supply chain leaders decide from a shared, data-driven picture of value.

The second session, Beyond the Sales Call: Becoming a Strategic Industry Partner in Value Analysis, offers a candid look at what provider organizations actually need from industry: credible clinical evidence, transparency on total cost of ownership, and respect for the value analysis process. Designed for supplier representatives, Industry Partners, and the value analysis professionals who work with them, the session examines the anatomy of a value analysis decision from the provider’s perspective and the practices that turn a single product conversation into a durable partnership.

Continuing education credit will be available for nursing professionals, Certified Value Analysis Healthcare Professionals (CVAHP), Certified Patient Safety Professionals, Certified Healthcare Risk Managers, and Certified Healthcare Materials Managers (CMRP), along with American College of Healthcare Executives Qualifying Education credits toward the FACHE designation.

Joint Continuing Education Webinar Programs

Webinar 1: From Data to Decisions: Integrating Clinical Outcomes into Supply Chain and Value Analysis

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify the clinical outcome measures and data sources, including quality indicators, registry data, hospital-acquired condition rates, and patient-reported outcomes, most relevant to product and category decisions.
  2. Apply a practical framework for linking product utilization and cost data with clinical outcomes to evaluate the true value of medical products, technologies, and services.
  3. Describe strategies for building sustained collaboration among value analysis, supply chain, quality, and clinical stakeholders so that outcomes data becomes a routine input to sourcing and conversion decisions.

Session Description

Cost, quality, and outcomes can no longer live in separate silos. As health systems advance toward value-based care, supply chain and value analysis teams are being asked to demonstrate not just savings, but the clinical impact of the products they source. This session explores how organizations are operationalizing clinically integrated supply chains connecting utilization and spend data with outcome measures such as infection rates, length of stay, readmissions, and patient safety indicators. Attendees will examine where to find credible outcomes data, how to weigh clinical evidence alongside financial analysis, and how to structure value analysis workflows and committee conversations so clinicians and supply chain leaders make decisions from a shared, data-driven picture of value. Real-world examples will illustrate both quick wins and the longer-term governance, analytics, and relationship-building needed to make clinical integration stick. Value analysis professionals, supply chain leaders, clinicians, and industry partners will leave with concrete steps to bring outcomes into their next product decision.

Webinar 2: Beyond the Sales Call: Becoming a Strategic Industry Partner in Value Analysis

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the healthcare value analysis process, including committee structures, evidence expectations, and decision criteria, and where industry representatives can add legitimate value at each stage.
  2. Differentiate transactional vendor behaviors from strategic partnership practices and recognize the actions that build (or erode) credibility and trust with value analysis and supply chain teams.
  3. Develop an engagement plan that aligns product conversations with a health system's clinical, financial, and operational priorities, supported by relevant clinical evidence and total cost of ownership data.

Session Description

Health systems are consolidating suppliers, tightening vendor access, and raising the bar on evidence and the industry partners who thrive are the ones who show up as strategic collaborators rather than transactional sellers. Designed for both supplier representatives and the value analysis professionals who work with them, this session offers a candid look at what provider organizations actually need from industry: credible clinical evidence, transparency on total cost of ownership, respect for the value analysis process, and solutions tied to the organization's quality and financial goals. Attendees will explore the anatomy of a value analysis decision from the provider's perspective, common missteps that stall product reviews, and practices that turn a single product conversation into a durable partnership. Provider-side attendees will gain a framework for setting clear expectations with suppliers, while industry attendees will leave with practical tools to prepare stronger submissions, engage stakeholders appropriately, and become the partner value analysis teams call first.
